SUMMARY:Liisa Ruoho Flute Master Class
DESCRIPTION:Liisa Ruoho Flute Master Class\nSaturday, March 24, 2012\n
 1:00-5:00 PM\nSt.George’s Episcopal Church\n808 Foothill Blvd.\nLa C
anada, CA 91011\n\n\nFinnish flutist Liisa Ruoho is known throughout E
urope as a consummate performer and brilliant teacher. She is flute pr
ofessor at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki. Her personal study of the
Alexander Technique revolutionized her playing and teaching, and for
over 40 years she has been teaching flutists how to use their original
instrument-the body.\nWe are very happy to welcome back Liisa for the
fourth year in La Canada to work with six flutists and to perform for
us. Come to the class and learn how you can free up your fingers for
fluid technique, increase your breathing capacity, expand your express
ive range and musical understanding, and play with more comfort, ease
and enjoyment. \nWhat flutists say about Liisa...\n“What Liisa has
to offer is invaluable...in terms of flute playing, using your body pr
operly, and not getting in your way. Her ideas and suggestions transla
te into major changes for the better in your flute playing.” Susan G
reenberg, flutist LA Chamber Orchestra\n“Changing habits and solving
flute problems can be frustrating...no doubt. But Liisa takes an expe
rimental approach that’s inspiring. When I leave a class or lesson w
ith her I feel energetic, ready to try new things. I become optimistic
about the possibilities awaiting me.” Julie Long, LA flutist\nFees:
performer $75, auditor $20, student auditors $10.  Deadline for perf
ormer applications March 10. All information including applications, f
lyers, directions, and repertoire can be found on www.flutemuse.com. Q
